Hi, I’m Tori C. Lore.
I write dark space opera and neon-noir hopepunk, stories where love is a risk and hope is a fight. My books live in hard worlds, alien empires and corporate cities and neon rain, and the people in them have to decide what they’re willing to pay for each other.
I’m the author of The Republic of McCoy, a neon-noir cyberpunk novel with a slow-burn romance, and Aeva: The Last Hope, the first book in The Last Hope series. You’ll find both on my books page, and if you want to hear what I was listening to while writing McCoy, here’s the McCoy playlist.
Before writing full-time, I worked in IT and education. I have a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and a master’s in creative writing, and I grew up on Bradbury, Asimov, Atwood, and Philip K. Dick. I still can’t pass up a good science fiction documentary.
When I’m not writing, I paint, draw, listen to music, and get outdoors. My real weakness is notebooks, along with an ever-growing collection of pens, pencils, highlighters, and markers. I live in Colorado, about 850 feet above the Mile High City.
About This Blog
The Writing Sparrow is where I talk about writing: craft, process, the things that worked, and the things I had to learn the hard way. It’s where I share the behind-the-scenes of my books, how they get made, what I listened to while writing them, and what I’ve learned from publishing them. It’s also home to the notebooks, pens, and planners, the tools where the stories actually start. And every Friday there’s 40 Words Friday, my tiny-fiction feature, which I’m gathering into a book.
